Where Was God?

Yesterday, twenty families did something that we all take for granted.  They sent their children to school.  Never for a moment thinking that they would never see their babies again. The events that transpired in Newton, Connecticut were unimaginable and horrific.

How do we find answers?  How do we make sense?  The sad reality is that we can't. Evil exists in this world.  Pain, frustration, anger and hopelessness fill the lives of so many.  It fills their lives until it consumes them and spills over.

When we were made in God's image, we were given a very special gift, free will.  God can not control our will. That is how evil manages to exist in a world created by a Good God, who loves us.

Can someone with mental illness choose evil? Yes.  It can be argued that their judgement is impaired, but it is still their judgement.

Where is God when tragedies like this happen? Holding the children and gathering them up with arms of love.

The Holy Spirit empowered so many during this tragedy with the gift of Fortiude and Courage to protect the children they could and face death. The Holy Spirit in the days to come with shower Wisdom, Knowledge, Counsel and Understanding upon all those affected by this tragedy as they grieve.

We need Faith right now, more than anything. We need God.
